Walt Disney Signed Presentation Mat Mickey dye transfer

Fabulous off-white 14 x 12 presentation mat prepared by the studio to exhibit an original cel, prominently signed on the mount in bold green artist’s crayon, “Walt Disney.” A light pencil caption, “From Mickey Mouse,” is below the image as issued. Now displayed in the mat is a high-quality dye transfer showing Mickey twirling a lasso around his body. Beginning in the mid 1940s, the Disney Studio created these dye transfers to give away for publicity and to VIPs that visited the studio. It was the best type of cel art reproduction of the time and due to their specialized purpose, production was extremely limited. The presentation as a whole is attractively matted and framed to an overall size of 20.5 x 18.5. In fine condition. An exceptionally appealing, boldly signed, and uninscribed Disney offering. Pre-certified Phil Sears COA.

Pre-Bidding is January 15 – January 21. Live Bidding begins at 1 pm ET on January 22.

Walt Disney Studio Art-Props setup Lady and the Tramp signed by Disney himself

Vibrant Walt Disney Studio Art-Props setup. Cel depicts Lady and Tramp standing on a street corner. The cel has been trimmed to the outline of both figures, as was customary when being prepared for presentation, and is set against a colorfully hand-painted 8 x 10.25 background. Cel is housed in its original cream 14.75 x 17.75 mat with the pencil caption “Walt Disney’s ‘Lady and the Tramp’” and the red “Original WDP” ink stamp; the mat is boldly signed in black artist’s pencil, “Walt Disney.” Professionally de-acidified and archivally framed (with an additional acid-free mat beneath the original, signed mat) to an overall size of 17.25 x 20. This would have been made prior to the release of the film and used for publicity purposes. In fine condition, with a few small ripples to Tramp’s neck resulting in some slight lifting of paint, and some scattered mild damp staining to mat, not affecting overall visual appeal. A splendid and seldom-seen signed example from Disney’s timeless love story. Pre-certified Phil Sears COA and RR Auction COA.

Walt Disney 1950’s Personal Check

Personal check, 8.25 x 3, filled out in another hand and signed by Disney, “Walter E. Disney,” payable to Dolores Scott for $2500, April 23, 1950. In fine condition, with three vertical folds (one passing between his middle initial and last name), and expected bank stamps and cancellation holes (holes trivially affecting a portion of the first letter in his signature). Scott was Walt Disney’s influential personal secretary who worked for him for 35 years, beginning in 1930. She served as the ‘gatekeeper’ for anyone wanting to meet with Disney and oversaw his personal finances. A wonderful association with this ‘unsung hero’ of Disney’s greatest years, highlighted by the extremely bold example of his classic whimsical signature. Pre-certified Phil Sears COA and RR Auction COA.

Walt Disney choice vintage brown ink signature

Choice vintage brown ink signature, “Walt Disney,” on an off-white 5.5 x 4.25 sheet of his personal Mickey Mouse stationery. In fine condition, with a small, unobtrusive tear to upper edge. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Phil Sears and an unsigned color photo of Disney. Disney kept a pad of this note paper on his desk and was known to sign them in advance and put them in his pocket to pass out to autograph seekers; as such, when these are found they are often folded or wrinkled, while this example is in superlative condition. Mickey Mouse items signed by Disney are also surprisingly scarce, making this piece of Disney’s personalized stationery an exceptionally desirable autographed piece. RR Auction COA.
