RR Autograph Auction Beatrix Potter

British author and illustrator (1866–1943) whose Edwardian-era tales of naughty rabbits, ‘bad’ mice, and other amusingly mischievous animals take a place among the most enduring and beloved works in the annals of children’s literature. Her first and best-known book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, has sold more than 40 million copies since it was first published in 1902. Greeting card, 4.25 x 6, featuring a color illustration of two rabbits on the front and a further black and white illustration inside of a cat at a window, captioned, ‘Tom Kitten’s Mother lives in that house; I hope she is not looking,’ signed in fountain pen, “Beatrix Potter,” and inscribed by Potter to “Celia N. Edwards, Christmas 1936.” In fine condition, with a couple light creases and some trivial foxing. A great card that features two of Potter’s classic illustrations and a crisp, clean signature. Extremely desirable uninscribed color 8 x 10 NASA photo of Armstrong posing in his white space suit, his helmet by his side, signed in blue felt tip. In fine condition, with a paperclip impression to top edge as well as a hint of trivial soiling. Consignor notes signature was acquired in 1981 after a letter sent to the University of Cincinnati was forwarded to Amrstrong (he left the university in 1979) and received the photo a couple of months later. Uninscribed photos of Armstrong represent one of the most coveted prizes in the entire field of space collecting. Pre-certified Steve Zarelli and RR Auction COA.

Also signed and inscribed on the reverse by John Agar. A uniform shade of toning, light scattered creases, irregularly cut right edge, light paper loss to the lower left, and a few stray ink marks between the inscription and signature, otherwise fine condition. RR Autograph Auctions Ambrose Bierce

American writer (1842–c.1914) best known for his vivid short stories (including the classic ‘An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge’) and his satirical ‘The Devil’s Dictionary.’ In 1913, while traveling with Pancho Villa’s troops during the Mexican Revolution, Bierce disappeared, his ultimate fate remains a mystery. Original 4 x 6.25 cabinet photo by Blakesly’s Elite Studions of California, signed and inscribed on the reverse in black ink “Forrest Crissey Esqr., Compliments of Ambrose Bierce.” In very good condition, with scattered light toning and soiling to reverse, some light spotting and surface marks to image, and a pencil sizing notation to lower border. Maclen (Music) LTD business check, 7.5 x 3.25, filled out in another hand and signed by John Lennon, payable to Pelling and Voss Limited for £142.8.8, dated November 12, 1970; a Harrisongs Ltd. business check, 7.5 x 3.25, filled out in another hand and signed by George Harrison, payable to Woking Motors Limited for £112.0.2, stamp dated March 6, 1972; an Apple Management business check, 7.5 x 3.25, filled out in another hand and signed by Ringo Starr, “R. Starkey,” payable to Wright and Webb for £3150.0.0, dated January 14, 1973; and a DS, one page, 7 x 6, dated April 7, 1967. An invoice from Cave Photographic for £24.10.2, signed at the bottom by McCartney as being paid. All four are double matted and framed with individual portraits of the band to an overall size of 20.5 x 37.5. Cancellation stamps to all three checks, punch holes to tops of Lennon and Harrison checks, a red ink cancellation through portion of Lennon’s signature, and several office stamps to McCartney’s document, otherwise fine condition. An excellent example boasting crisp signatures showing the diversity and responsibilities of the band’s interests. Oversized. RRAuction COA.
